艺术家自我介绍

何家强,人们说他是艺术家。因为要逃避香港的喧哗浮躁,1988年自我放逐于海外。华侨心理,乘着对祖国的情结,以中华文化思哲为创作起点。努力将华夏智慧,用当代艺术多元媒体表达,混染于国际艺术江湖。

“ 如是斋 ”是何家强的画室,是地球上的一个小空间。位于北半球上的北美洲,一个建国约一百五十年的国家,名字叫加拿大。安大略湖北面有个城市叫多伦多,再北一点叫万锦市。这地方每到冬天大雁们也要南飞避寒。在零下二十至三十度下,茫茫窗外的大风雪中,恍惚在提问生命中的所有意义,过去、当下、将来的真相。在长时间的认知、感知及灵悟下,得出一个不靠谱的答案,这答案叫:如是⋯如是⋯所以这地方名为“ 如是斋 ”。

何家强生于香港,毕业于香港理工大学及多间专上艺术设计学院,曾任香港无线电视台美术设计师,并任教艺术专上学院。1988年移民加拿大,从事美术教育及气功太极指导工作。艺术创作以中国笔墨为主,并以多元媒体为表达媒介,包括:现代书法、抽象及意象水墨、装置艺术、行动绘画、视频艺术、音乐互动多元媒体表演艺术。

作品曾获美国纽约艺术及设计美术馆“当代艺术家奖”
以及加拿大多伦多士嘉堡市艺术局“评审委员艺术奖”
作品被收藏于加拿大安省万锦市艺术馆及加拿大文化馆

Henry Ho was borned in Hong Kong
Henry came to Canada in 1988.
He is an Chinese calligraphy teacher and Qi Gong instructor in Toronto.

Henry employs the ancient Chinese brushwork as his main art language which is merged with different art forms such as contemporary Chinese calligraphy, figurative and abstract brush work, installation art, action painting performance art, video art, multi-media interactive musical performance art. The main concept of Henry’s art is to translate the realm from his spiritual practice.

太 极 笔 墨

(原创演绎)

天地悠悠,穷苍冥冥,
入虚幽空,虑静意成。

洋洋大墨,细细幽丝,
处处归圆,意气团团。

笔毫疾走,带墨涩行,
轻重缓急,起伏节致。

重处雷电压顶,
轻处瓶花落地。

墨香纸白,汇线成形,
干湿浓淡,幻化无端。

似形非形,是书非书,
阴阳并制,笔笔依存。

动中含静,静中生动,
瞬间即就,如历千秋。

浑然真一,圆我太极。

TaiChi Brushwork

Heaven and Earth,
without limit, without end,
Realm of time,
eternally nether, eternally deep;
Upon entering a state of deep contemplation,
an inspiration arises.
The brush sweeps rapidly,
in strokes of inverse motion, creating tension;
Lightly, heavily, slowly, swiftly,
each stroke, rising and falling, rhythmically well-modulated.
In executing heavy strokes,
the pressure applied resembles thunder and lightning;
In delivering light strokes,
the weight applied is like the dropping of flowers.
Within motion,
there is stillness,
And in stillness,
there is motion;
Though it appears to have taken eons,
but all comes into being in an instance.
Fragrant ink and white Xuan paper,
Lined and shaped;
The strokes – dry and moist, rich and pale in colour tone,
rendering boundless impact.
The strokes are bold and distinctive,
slender and refined;
Following the flow of vital energy,
they return to circular motions.
It is neither form nor formless,
neither script nor script-less;
But a combination
of strength and weakness, rigidity and flexibility, thickness and slimness,
Yin and Yang, complementary and balanced.
And eventually,
all becomes a unifying whole,
and completes my realm of Tai Chi.

—— 笔势团团意气生 ——

墨浪滔滔,笔气团团,
正反意成二气生,相冲对依存。

是圣是凡,既进亦怠,情理双待。
笔势走旋转,意远,续续不息。

放逸笔墨,心乘神骏,宣绢静白许奔驰。
马年出生,与马投缘,承形相,合灵神。
非绘马。

动中求静,静虑存想,幻化宣纸。
坐姿正,套路准。

入静-聚焦-妄念-聚焦-放空⋯
寂光一点。

无言。

强言而绘。

Henry Ho’s Artist statement for Tai Chi horse painting

The Circular brush strokes release the vital energy
coming from the realm of my meditative Tai Chi
Movements flow like waves in an ocean; it is the ocean of ink and paint.
My restless circular brushstrokes release raw energy.
Opposite forces emerge from my mind, in conflict with each other, but also mutually complementary and interdependent.
Divinity and desire, endeavor and laziness, reason and sentiment … running round and round,
I depict them in restless circular motions.
Born in the Year of the Horse,
I never feel tired painting horses.
We share commonality in nature,
but I am not really painting the horse species.
The galloping horses embody high motion in tranquility. They are the visualization of the realm during my sitting mediation.
Right postures in stillness; right gestures of Tai Chi movement.
Calm down – focus – wondering thoughts – focus – void.
There is a spot of bright light in void.
Within the light, I am speechless—
I touch the reason why I paint

正本清源,华夏各代书家的创作,是仰观天际俯察大地的人天交感,道法自然。所以传世的书法,可以说是自然规律的线条造型,宇宙规律的“视觉振频”。临摹传统书法可以神交于书家的学养、品位、性情里。在凝神专注的书写中,书法的美学可以洗涤心灵,身心舒畅,正能量得以培植。这可称为“书写冥想”。
真正的传统,是历代书家本着当时的意识形态、自身及社会需要,继往开来地不断开创不同书体及风格。只要掌握书法的精要规律,如笔力、笔法、墨法、笔势、装字及结构等,以当代的美学观念、形式技巧、工具及个人的感悟,承先启后地交代当代的新传统。或许我们可以将这古典的艺术形式,重新定义,让她飞得更高更远,来润泽全球文化。
